And the winner of Season 11’s American Idol is…Phillip Phillips! I don’t even think Phillip himself was ready for that moment. He made that very clear when he broke down in the middle of his finale song, “Home.” I can chill and listen to a lot of different musical styles and indie rock is def one of them. There’s no question that Jessica Sanchez is talented but a lot of ladies have that same sound, plus she probably already has a record deal. Being in the music biz, I know that. So don’t worry America, that’s not the last of her. Phillip’s got it all. Mumford and Sons meets Dave Matthews meets Jack Johnson. As Mr. Tyler said, “By virtue of your vulnerability and style you made the world your home.” I couldn’t agree more. Speaking of Steven Tyler, did you see Aerosmith’s performance? I loved seeing them singing their classic “Dream On” and their first new song in years “Legendary Child!” Joe Perry on that guitar! Unreal! They definitely still got it and I can’t wait to see them on their tour. I thought all of the performances were solid, some better than others, but I can’t get into that right now.. One more thing though- my girl Jordin Sparks is killin’ it lately and last night she did it again. Keep climbin’ girl. Anyway, I’m out. I’m due at the studio to spit some new tracks with Blaze. Who knows, maybe I’ll be judging American Idol in the next couple of years. I think I’d be a lot better than one of those judges - not mentioning any names - but let’s just say they’re on Ike’s level…
