Mel Blanc. The vocal genius behind some of the most famous Looney Tunes characters - Taz being my favorite. “Taz the temperamental tornado Spaz.” Actually, something Mike can relate to very well… But whatever, it’s Mel’s day. He’d be 104 today and I’m sure just as talented. No doubt he’d be cranking out some hilarious new voices. Happy Birthday man!

Happy Birthday Tony Hawk. 44 years young, man. I’ve been playing around with skateboard deck graphics and I dedicate my first two designs to you! You have no boundaries between life, work, and passion. Your passion is your work is your life. That was my inspiration for the “Fruity Haze” design…blurring the lines helps you appreciate the whole. It’s all about unity. You have shown two generations of skaters that the rider, the board, the pipe, the park are one. And that has united the entire skating scene. Your 900 was for all of us. The other deck I call “Candy Pipe”…it’s just a riff on the beauty of the curves in a classic skate park like my favorite in Carlsbad, California and how they echo the perfect curves in a MIKE AND IKE® fruit candy. It’s not an accident that MIKE AND IKE® candies are shaped the way they are! I’m having fun with the skate graphics but I also feel the need to blow it out with something major now that I’m taking a break from the candy side of life and focusing on other things. I’m thinking large-scale sculpture that is actually skatable…
